I, Thalamus is a band led by the multi-talented, Grant Gordon. Grant contacted me after visiting the website a few months back. He is a producer and writer of music and radio, and also runs a nice little rehearsal and recording studio in Belsize Park called Junk Studios. Apparently, he played in the indie-rock band, The Divine Comedy, so that’s pretty cool.
I onced asked Grant to describe the sound of I, Thalamus and this is what he said: “Imagine the bastard love child of Ziggy Stardust and Roger Waters, via a slab of old Berlin, a rummage through the BBC Sound Archive and lobbed in location recordings from around the globe. If Johnny Cash met Jacques Brel and was produced by Hatfield & Ulrich", he said, "you'd have I, Thalamus”. So there you go! I, Thalamus often comprises of a wide variety of musicians, up to seven in number at times, playing all sorts of instrumentation including violins and mandolins. A new set of shorter straight-ahead blues and rockabilly-tinged songs in their live set, and the recent addition of a double-bass player, serves to further demonstrate Grant's diverse tastes and talents
